If the TPMS light has been on for a long period of time there is a chance that the car has gone into a lock mode and will not allow a scan or relearn for the new TPMS sensors that are being installed. This means that the computer/TPM module of the car might have to be “flashed” or reset by a service center so that it can accept the new TPMS sensors.
