Dodge will soon be voluntarily recalling just a few of their 2012 Dodge Charger SRT-8 and Chrysler 300 SRT-8 versions for a miscalibrated TPMS module. According to the NHTSA, the module should engage the warning light when the tire drops below 25% of rated pressure, or 24 psi. Instead, the warning light actually engaged at 22 psi. That may not sound like much, but especially on high-powered cars with low-profile tires, running for little while longer on just a bit less inflation can massively increase both sidewall damage and heat overloading and so can become dangerous pretty quickly.

The recall simply involves having the dealer reprogram the TPMS module, and affects only 303 vehicles made between May 2nd and November 17th, 2011. The vehicle's build date can be found on a plaque affixed to the driver's-side doorjamb.
