Do the colored dots really matter. I just pulled a broken tpms sensor out with a blue dot Pacific brand FCC ID PAXPMV1001, pacific part number PA66-GF33. Now I have a new sensor here with the exact same FCC ID, Pacific part number, looks the same to me, except this one has a Gold dot. Local shop says dots matter but they can't tell me why, parts store which sold me the sensor says it doesn't matter. Now I don't know if I should use this one, don't want the hassle of returning it if I don't have to as I purchased it online. My main goal is to just make the pressure light stop the annoying ringing sound.

The color is specific to location on the vehicle. From what I understand the sensors were pre programmed with a unique serial number that the car is set to ID in a certain location, therefor if you have 2 gold you will have 2 registered in the same location, possibly causing an error.
